“Each year for our April board meeting we focus on governance effectiveness,” said an Iowa executive. “Board members discuss the Governance Authority Self‐Assessment, the Board Member Self‐Assessment, the Conflict of Interest Acknowledgement/Disclosure Statement and the Board Member Ethical Commitment Acknowledgement,” he said. Board members are asked to sign the last two documents, including a statement about items that need to be kept confidential.
