Data are readily available for pressure loss coefficients of various valves, meters, and pipe fittings. However, there are little to no data for large‐diameter mitered elbows. This study uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) coupled with minimal laboratory data to determine pressure loss coefficients of large‐diameter mitered elbows with dimensions that follow ANSI/AWWA C208‐17 recommendations. The CFD methods were compared with physical data to determine the accuracy of the CFD simulations. The results suggest pressure loss coefficients are solely dependent on Reynolds number. Tabulated data and formulas for pressure loss coefficients of large‐diameter mitered data are set forth for engineering use.
