We describe the main characteristics of a small satellite mission aimed to survey part of the sky in the x‐ray band (WAXS — Wide Angle x‐ray Survey) using a Wide Field of view X‐ray Telescope (WFXT). We demonstrate that using the new technologies we have developed, it is possible to construct x‐ray mirrors according to a new optical design which optimize the angular resolution over a large field of view.
