The Advanced X‐ray Astrophysics Facility (AXAF) will offer us all great opportunities for surveys. The exceptional resolution of the AXAF mirrors, will yield unsurpassed deep surveys, and the energy resolution of the ACIS will allow unique contributions to the AXAF version of previous “medium sensitivity” and “slew” surveys. At this workshop we presented some preliminary results of the calibration of the AXAF flight mirrors. Off‐axis imaging, chromatic effects of vignetting, and the asymmetry of the off‐axis response will be important for planning and analyzing surveys.
