The unusual brightening of the RSCVn‐type variable SV Cam reported by P ATKOS (1982a) is analysed. We base our analysis on the assumption of a temporarily existing bright spot which appeared on the primary star of the binary system. A location near the stellar equator and a spot radius of 70° are derived. According to our analysis, the temperature difference between the spot and its surroundings was up to 110 K. The spot's existence is related to an observed change of the orbital period. Both findings are interpreted as caused by mass exchange resp. accretion.
