Approximate formulae for the evaluation of the effect of direct solar radiation pressure (neglecting the P OYNTING ‐R OBERTSON effect and shadow effect) on the nodal period of artificial Earth satellites with quasi‐circular orbits are derived. The cases of osculating elements considered in the ascending node and of circular orbits are studied.
