The physical meaning of the parameters of the post‐N EWTON ian approximation is considered from a theoretical point of view. It is shown that the post‐N EWTON ian approximation of any L ORENTZ ‐covariant theory, which implies P OISSON equations for every metric coefficient in the linear approximation, is the member of a three‐parametric family of post‐N EWTON ian metrics. Some tetrad theories are cited.
