This paper studies sampled‐data control for a class of passive nonlinear systems. It is shown that the performance of a stabilizing continuous‐time output feedback controller can be recovered by a sampled‐data state feedback controller when the sampling period is sufficiently small, which means that the state of the plant can be regulated within any given neighborhood of the origin by appropriate choice of the sampling period. Finally, an illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented method.
