Soft molecular cages integrate multiple functionalities and are increasingly used in constructing functional materials. They express their functions from the confined space in their cavity, functional groups in the cavity walls, and the chelating nodes. Soft cages can easily composite with nanoparticles or polymers and exist in materials of various forms. The recent developments of cage‐based materials are systematically documented with emphasis on construction strategies and functional applications.
