Abstract Two isomeric N‐annulated perylene diimide dimers, namely, p ‐BDNP and m ‐BDNP were designed and synthesized via geometric tuning. The distinct molecular geometry and packing arrangements of isomers with almost identical optical and electrochemical properties rendered us an in‐depth understanding of the molecular structure–aggregation state–photovoltaic performance relationship. Blended with the commercially available donor PCE‐10, p ‐BDNP and m ‐BDNP showed distinct differences in photovoltaic performance with power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 5.01 % and 4.15 %, respectively.
