Green chemical reagents from biomass : Many chemicals utilized in organic synthesis involving alkynes are highly flammable, dangerous, and very difficult to handle. For the first time, acetylene derivatives have now been prepared directly from biomass. These new green reagents are accessible directly from natural biomass such as cellulose using safe and easy‐to‐use chemical methodology. More information can be found in the Communication by Leonid V. Romashov and Valentine P. Ananikov on page 2652 in Issue 20, 2017 (DOI: 10.1002/asia.201700940).
