Liposomes The chair ring flip of a hydrocarbon‐modified diaminosugar causes liposome formation in a stimuli‐responsive way, as reported by Hideya Yuasa et al. in their Full Paper on page 586 ff. , which is featured on the Inside Cover. Whereas the molecule has a linear shape giving rise to micelle‐like aggregates in water, it turns to a bent structure on addition of zinc ions, thereby aggregating into liposomes. Both the micelles and liposomes can incorporate a fluorophore. Upon exposure to an acid, the liposomes are decomposed. These aggregation properties are promising for drug‐delivery applications.
