The perfect host : A discrete Ru 6 L 4 capsule was synthesized as a solution counterpart of networked Co 6 L 4 capsules, which can host various guests in the crystalline state using dynamic conformational changes. By harnessing the common dynamic nature of two hosts upon guest encapsulation, the solution host–guest chemistry of the Ru 6 L 4 capsule was transferred into the crystalline state using networked Co 6 L 4 capsules.
