Orientation control : We demonstrate a facile method for the controlled orientation of 1D mesochannels by applying a novel rubbing method that utilizes lyotropic liquid crystals (LLC) made of highly concentrated surfactants. This method does not have any special requirements for the supports or the substrates. Here we applied this rubbing method for the uniaxial orientation control of mesochannels in silica films using two different surfactants: as P123 and Brij 56.
