Eye spy : A FokI based aptamer–DNAzyme biosensor, in which the aptamer is used as the single input device and the DNAzyme as the device for the single output detection, is presented. Furthermore, this assay system is shown to be a sensitive and selective system, suitable for colorimetric and visual operation by the naked eye. The limit of detection (LOD) of 2 μ M is obtained for the adenosine assay.
