C 70 encapsulated into a surface‐cross‐linked liposome (a morphologically stable cerasome) was prepared by an exchange reaction. The photodynamic activity of the cerasome with incorporated C 70 in HeLa cells is described by A. Ikeda et al. They show that the cerasome can be used in photodynamic therapy without the need for prior drug release from the cerasome. This indicates an alternative drug‐delivery system with high morphological stability which can increase the residence time in blood and achieve tumor‐selective drug delivery by the enhanced permeability and retention effect.
