Professor Ryoji Noyori is one of the great heroes of modern organic chemistry. Not only has he made a lasting impact on the course of research in homogeneous asymmetric catalysis and other fields through his outstanding scientific contributions, but he has also served as a role model and inspiration in the way he has pursued elegant and straightforward approaches to even the most complex chemical problems. In honor and celebration of his 70th birthday, this special double issue features an extraordinary collection of top articles all in dedication to Professor Noyori, with a personal congratulatory introduction by Professor Hisashi Yamamoto.
