Rheumatoid arthritis is present in an Alaskan Eskimo population. The prevalence of X‐ray evidence of osteoarthritis of the hands and wrists has been determined in an Eskimo population. Comparison with available U. S. white data suggests that the prevalence may be lower in the Eskimo. There was a high prevalence of individuals in the village of Wainwright whose sera yielded a positive bentonite flocculation test.
