The 5‐desoxy analogue of BW245C, imidazolidin‐2‐one 3, has been synthesized by reduction of the N ‐benzyl hydantoin derivative 6. Compound 3 was found to be approximately equipment with BW245C as an inhibitor of platelet aggregation and this result indicates that the 5‐keto group of BW245C is not essential for platelet inhibitory activity.
