Homonuclear NOE difference spectroscopy is shown to be a rapid and reliable tool for the determination of stereochemistry regarding the ‐C=N‐ substructure of 5‐nitrofurfural derivatives of type 1–10 , including several known chemotherapeutic agents. The assignments resting on the NOE difference experiments are in full agreement with those based on 13 C‐NMR data.
