The syntheses and pharmacological evaluation of two polycyclic ephedrine derivatives 5 and 6 , are reported. Using the acetic acid induced writhing test and the carrageenin induced rat‐paw oedema test, the compounds were found to have analgesic and anti‐inflammatory properties. Further investigation of the anti‐inflammatory effect of 5 in adrenalectomised rats showed an indirect mechanism of action.
