The synthesis of the alkylating agents 18 – 25 from p ‐hydroxypropiophenone, p ‐hydroxyacetophenone and their nitro derivatives 14 – 17 is reported. The antitumor activities of these new compounds are compared to those of the previously reported analogs 2 – 13 of the local anesthetic ketocaine (1) .
