In the study by Xiang Chen, Haibing Xu and Yingdan Zhu, a layer of poly(cyclotriphosphazene‐co‐4,4′‐sulfonyldiphonel) (PZS) hybrid coating with PZS microspheres were successfully introduced onto carbon fiber (CF) surface through facile in situ polymerization, which effectively improved the interfacial shear strength of CF reinforced polyamide 6 (PA6) composites. The mechanical interlocking and hydrogen bonding synergistically played a major role in the improvement of interfacial properties of composites. This figure shows a SEM micrograph of CF/PA6 microdroplet specimen for microbond test, providing an effective method to strengthen the interfacial properties of CF reinforced thermoplastic composites.
