The cover presented by Qiangxian Wu and colleagues shows the sustainable and cheap alternative natural clam shell waste with inherent and active groups (such as hydroxyl groups, carboxyl groups and amino groups) selected to prepare compatible composites with biodegradable polycaprolactone (PCL) via melting process. The unique CaCO 3 ‐proteoglycan structured clam shell powder and PCL matrix gradually formed a compatible system. Particularly important was that the adhesion between the clam shell and PCL improved significantly as the content of the compatibilizer was increased. It showed that clam shell has great potential applications in the area of compatible composites and could serve as an alternative material for reinforcement in polymer composites.
