The image by Xiahui Gui and colleagues shows a microscopic visualization from a modified anthracite seen by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Based on the high‐rank anthracite with layered structure similarly to graphite, structure‐activity and dispersion of the layers are improved by mechanical‐chemical modification, showing a desirable lamellar morphology. Furthermore, the modified anthracite or low‐level carbon black/silica compositing as the filler effectively improved mechanical reinforcement and thermal stability of styrene butadiene rubber. This study contributes to the development of the coal‐based rubber composites, thus effectively enhancing their mechanical reinforcement behavior and thermal stability. DOI: 10.1002/app.48203
