This SEM image by Kyu Hyun and colleagues, shows ethylene octene copolymer (EOC) matrix with curing agent DCP (dicumyl peroxide) and chemical blowing agent (CBA) after curing and foaming process. In the case of using CBA, when curing and foaming process progressed under atmospheric pressure, foam coalescence occurred and structural irregularity increased. Whereas using encapsulated PBA, foam cell expands continuously in the EOC matrix without coalescence due to polymer shell of encapsulated PBA. DOI: 10.1002/app.47358 .
