This SEM image from Hongyu Wang and colleagues depicts that a functionalized boehmite with phosphorus and silicon element is dispersed in epoxy resin. Composites with 4 wt% boehmite, 0.99 wt% Si and 1.1 wt% P pass the liquid oxygen impact test, and the corresponding cryogenic (90K) tensile strength and failure strain is 126.1MPa and 1.57%, respectively. The mechanism of liquid oxygen compatibility of the composites is analyzed by XPS and TG Analysis. This finding suggests that the epoxy composites containing functionalized boehmite have a potential application under cryogenic liquid oxygen environment. DOI: 10.1002/app.46918 .
