Solvothermally reduced graphene oxide (SRGO)/polyimide (PI) composites were prepared by in situ polymerization. The structures and components were carefully investigated by X‐ray diffraction. Thermal properties were measured by thermogravimetry and dynamic thermomechanical analysis. Mechanical properties were carefully evaluated by tensile testing and scanning electron microscopy. The SRGO/PI composites exhibit extremely high tensile strength and elastic modulus, which is 30% higher than that of pure PI film. Meanwhile, the thermal stability of SRGO/PI composites also displays an obvious enhancement. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2019 , 136 , 47164.
