In this work by Dong Wang and colleagues, the hydrophilic and industry‐scale produced poly (vinyl alcohol‐coethylene) (PVA‐co‐PE) nanofiber membrane was first used as the middle layer for preparing the thin film composite (TFC) membrane. The uniform and dense polyamide layer then formed on the surface of PVA‐co‐PE nanofiber middle layer via the interfacial polymerization. The prepared PVA‐co‐PE nanofiber based TFC membrane demonstrated excellent separation efficiency to NaCl, Na 2 SO 4 , CaCl 2 , CuCl 2 , CuSO 4 and methyl orange solutions, providing a promising material for nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. This image depicts an FE‐SEM image of a TFC membrane with a PVA‐co‐PE nanofiber membrane as the middle layer. DOI: 10.1002/app.46261 .
