In this research by Mei Zhang and colleagues, the collagen was extracted from the abandoned Rana chensinensis skin. RCSC/PLLA nanofiber membranes with different fiber orientation were fabricated by electrospinning for wound dressing application. According to the SEM micrograph of fiber cross section, RCSC/PLLA nanofiber membranes showed continuous, uniform, smooth and bead free surfaces. RCSC can decrease the fiber diameter and increase the capacity of water uptake as well as cell adhesion, which makes the RCSC/PLLA membrane a good candidate for skin generation.
