In this research, Yangcheng Lu and colleagues use polyvinyl alcohol as the sole stabilizer to successfully synthesize polystyrene latex, poly(styrene‐co‐methyl methacrylate) latex, and poly(styrene‐co‐4‐chloro‐styrene) latex via oil‐soluble initiator initiated emulsion polymerization. This benefits from the remarkably accelerated polymerization in the colloids and supports the potential industrial use of macromolecular surfactants to produce functional nanolatexes with high efficiency.
