Masashi Hatanaka and colleagues formulate a quantitative kinetics method to find the rate determining steps in polymer complexation. The validity of the procedure was confirmed experimentally by analyzing the adsorption reaction of copper(II) ions on chitosan in which the degree of film‐diffusion control and particle‐diffusion control was obtained as a well‐defined ratio. The method described is practical and applicable to the design of polymer adsorbents, and chelate and ion‐exchange resins. (DOI: 10.1002/app.44738 )
