Scaffolds that mimic the architecture of native tissues are highly desirable for tissue engineering. Since some human tissues such as nerves and teeth have an oriented micro‐scale structure, the control of scaffold design parameters is important. Laura Santos and Àngel Berna have studied the production of micro‐oriented structure with different IPN's fabricated by combining thermal compression, sintering, solvent casting and particulate leaching techniques. The influence of processing parameters, such as compaction pressure, number of stacked fabric layers and compression time on the structure, pore morphology, porosity and thickness was studied. The information obtained indicates that the characteristics of the obtained scaffolds are suitable for tissue engineering application. (DOI: 10.1002/app.44616 )
