Liliane Samara Ferreira Leite, Liliane Cristina Battirola, Laura Caetano Escobar da Silva and Maria do Carmo Gonçalves used melt extrusion to prepare composites from cellulose acetate and cellulose nanocrystals. The effects of predispersing the nanocrystals in a cellulose acetate solution on the morphological, thermal and mechanical properties were examined. Predispersion was found to promote preferential nanocrystal orientation and increased the Young's modulus of the composite. (DOI: 10.1002/app.44201 )
