Poly( p ‐phenylene terephthalamide) fiber is an aramid fiber with high modulus and tensile strength. However, the interfacial adhesion between the fiber and the polymer matrix is quite poor due to its chemically inert and very smooth surface. On page 43018 (1 of 6), Ye Yuan, Shaokun Song, Sufen Deng, Qin Wang, Qisong Feng, Chuanxi Xiong and Lijie Dong discuss the development of a simple, yet efficient method towards an active functionalized PPTA fiber, which greatly enhances the interfacial adhesion of heterostructures in polymer composites.
