Fluorinated compounds find a wide range of applications in automotive, aerospace industries, optics, microelectronics, weather resistant paints, and water repellents. Chahinez Benbayer, Salima Saidi‐Besbes, Elisabeth Taffin de Givenchy, Sonia Amigoni, Frédéric Guittard, and Aicha Derdour use novel fluorinated reactive surfactants for the organic modification of monmorillonite clays. These organoclays are used for the preparation of polystyrene‐clay nanocomposites by in situ free radical polymerization. The synergic effect of fluorine moiety and polymerizable function on the properties of polystyrene nanocomposites is studied. The cover shows a SEM micrograph of polystyrene‐organoclay nanocomposite loaded with modified Na + ‐montmorillonite clay. (DOI: 10.1002/app.42347 )
