As a new strategy for wastewater treatment, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) can promote the degradation of contaminants. Studies of TiO 2 immobilized on the internal surface of polyethylene terephthalate bottles have shown promising results in closed, stationary systems for water disinfection and arsenic removal. Allen Lopes de Barros et al. propose an immobilization procedure by investigating flat PET/TiO 2 films in UV/TiO 2 ‐based AOPs. The scanning electron microscopy image on the cover illustrates the visual aspect of these TiO 2 films. This procedure demonstrates economical and environmental advantages because it uses small amounts of chemicals, generates almost no residues, and reduces the energy consumption by not involving heating steps.
