The scanning electron microscopy image shown is obtained for a hydrophilic filled PP/LCP blend, as presented by Reza Foudazi and Hossein Nazockdast on page 3501 . Comparing this micrograph to that of the hydrophobic counterpart shows that if nanoparticles work as a compatibilizing agent in a blend sample, they reduce the droplet size significantly, but if they work as a thickening agent, they do not change the droplet size significantly, but rather narrow the droplet size distribution.
