Chemical plating is a metallizing process that can impart unique properties to textile fabrics. It has great potential for use in textile production, especially in the functional and decorative aspects. The present study examined the feasibility of applying chemical silver plating to a polyester/cotton blended fabric (T/C fabric) as well as investigating the properties of the silver‐plated T/C fabric. It was found that chemical silver plating helped to produce T/C fabric with a novel appearance and to improve its performance. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 100: 4383–4387, 2006
