Methyl methacrylate (MMA) has been copolymerized with n ‐butyl acrylate ( n ‐BA), ethyl acrylate (EA), and 2‐ethylhexyl acrylate (2‐EHA) in solution at 70°C using benzoyl peroxide as free radical initiator. The copolymer composition was estimated by the 1 H‐NMR spectroscopic technique. The copolymers were further characterized by IR, XRD, TGA, DTA, DSC, GPC, and solubility. The adhesive characteristics of the copolymers to cellulosic substrate are also reported. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
