Weak acidic cational exchange fibers were obtained by means of preirradiation‐induced graft copolymerization of methacrylic acid, acrylic acid, and diglycol acrylate onto polypropylene nonwoven fabric with electron beam. Effects that influence grafting and the exchange adsorptive property of the ion‐exchange fibers obtained toward transition and rare‐earth metal ions have been investigated. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
