Infrared spectra of raw and chemically treated pineapple leaf fibers (PALF) have been studied using the KBr disk technique. Bands due to lignin and hemicellulose in the spectra of the fibers and their changes due to chemical (NaOH and NaCIO 2 ) treatment have been discussed.
