The transitions which occur in the structural state of poly(ethylene terephthalate) filaments in the range of spinning speeds, 1600–4500m/min, have been studied. Thermal annealing of as‐spunfilaments has been shown to provide useful indirect evidence for the structural states of these filaments. The results have been explained with a simple model of orientation distributions arising from crystallization in an oriented precursor.
