Several textile fabrics have been heated in a closed cell and the flammability limits of the gaseous products produced determined. In addition the energy released on combustion of these gaseous products has been measured in order to obtain an indication of the heat feedback capabilites of the fabric. Comparison of the data obtained was made in order to provide an indication of the flash fire potential of the materials and their contribution to a potential fire hazard situation.
