A new kinetic model for cure reactios has been developed from the concept of nonequilibrium thermodynamic fluctuation theory in which a distribution function relaxation spectrum is used for explaining cure kinetics of polymer–filler systems. It is found that an increase in filler loading reduces the relaxation time but broadens the relaxation spectrum of the cure reaction. The model is used to explain the cure curves which are obtained both from the Monsanto Rheometer 100 and the Rheometric Mechanical Spectrometer. Not only can the model predict scorch time, cure time, and activation energy of the cure reaction, but it can also take into account polymer–filler interaction and predict physical and mechanical properties of polymer systems during cure.
