Abstract The permeabilities of polyethylene film to vapors of 19 organic compounds at temperatures of 21°C, 38°C, and 49°C were measured by a sorption method. The film was formed into a pouch, which was filled with silica gel, sealed, and suspended in a saturated atmosphere. The permeability was calculated from the steady‐state rate of the gain in weight. The permeability data were correlated with the Hildebrand solubility parameters of the organic substances.
