Infrared spectral analysis has been applied for the study of cotton–polyacrylonitrile copolymers prepared by using the preirradiation method. The degree of grafting was determined from the absorption at 2249 cm. −1 , which is characteristic of the polyacrylonitrile spectrum, with an accuracy of ± 1.5%.
