Additional studies have been conducted on the radiation‐induced, solid‐state polymerization of trioxane. The out‐of‐source polymerization rate has been investigated as a function of radiation dose and of temperature and time of polymerization. The empirical relationship of log time ∝ Y (where Y is the polymerization percentage) was found to be satisfactory over wide ranges of conversion, of dose, and of polymerization time. At a given dose, the yield was directly proportional to the RSV 1.33 (where RSV is the reduced specific viscosity). Either increasing the dose or decreasing the particle size gave lower RSV values at the same conversions.
