This study proposed three different treatments of plasticized PVC, which decreases diffusion of the plasticizer when the plastic is in contact with a liquid food or simulated liquid food. The treated PVCs were tested under the same operating conditions, and their efficiency was able to be assessed thanks to a diffusion model previously described. It was shown that the time and the temperature of the storage of the treated PVCs influenced the effectiveness of the treatment. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 80: 1841–1847, 2001
