The cation‐binding by a series of oligoethylene glycol glyme derivatives has been performed by the solvent extraction of alkali metal picrates between water and dichloromethane. The effect of the length of the oligoethylene unit and the substituents at the terminal group on the cation binding ability is discussed. The results are compared with those of commercially available crown ethers and it was found that the compounds have lower cation binding ability.
